Headlines

Headlines are short news items or announcements shown on your website’s home page, e.g. Final week — get your tickets now or New shows added for Saturday. You write and schedule them in Funny Little Shows, without needing a developer.

When your website is first set up as part of your Funny Little Shows onboarding, we build your website’s templates. The templates decide where headlines appear on your home page and how they look, for example as a rotating carousel. You control what the headlines say and when they appear, in Website > Headlines.

  1. Go to Website > Headlines.
  2. Click New Headline.
  3. Enter a Title.
  4. Write the Body of your announcement. You can use formatting and links, just like in Custom Pages.
  5. Optionally, choose dates in Show After and Hide After to schedule the headline. See Schedule a headline below.
  6. Set the Sort Order if you have more than one headline. Lower numbers are shown first.
  7. Leave Active turned on and click Save.
  8. Publish your website. A Quick publish is all that’s needed.

Use the dates to have a headline appear and disappear on its own:

SettingWhat it does
Show AfterThe headline starts appearing after this date. Leave it empty to show the headline straight away.
Hide AfterThe headline stops appearing after this date. Leave it empty to keep showing it until you turn it off.

Dates are checked each time your website is published. With the automatic daily publish turned on, scheduled headlines appear and disappear overnight without you needing to do anything.

If automatic publishing is turned off, a scheduled headline only appears or disappears the next time you publish after its date.

  • Change a headline: open it from the list, make your changes, click Save, then publish.
  • Hide it for now: turn off Active and save. Turn it back on when you want to use it again.
  • Remove it permanently: delete it from the list, then publish.

Your home page only shows headlines that are Active and within their dates.
