The Funny Little Shows app turns any iPhone or Android phone into a ticket scanner for your comedy gigs. Scan QR code tickets, check in a whole party with one scan, look up punters who forgot theirs, and record door sales. It works offline. It's included with Funny Little Shows ticketing.
Available for Android and iOS devices.
The Funny Little Shows app is for the people running the door. They can scan tickets, look up bookings, check punters in, hand over add-ons and record door sales. Promoters can also use it to watch ticket sales in the lead-up to a show.
Every ticket is emailed with a QR code. Punters can also download and print a PDF. Scan it from the punter’s phone screen or paper, and the app tells you straight away whether the ticket is valid or has already been used. Answers to your custom checkout questions, such as access requirements, show up when you scan.
When a group arrives together on one booking, scan any of their tickets and the app offers to check in the rest of the party. A party of four is through the door in a single scan. Tick “Remember my choice” and every party after that checks in in one scan too.
Forgot their ticket? Flat phone battery? Turned up for the wrong night? Search bookings by name, phone number, email address or booking reference, then check the punter in manually. You can check people out the same way if they step outside. We even sort the bookings by last name, as most people who rock up will tell you the last name used for the booking, and you can then swipe to check them in.
As well as entry tickets, the app shows any add-ons punters bought with their booking, such as merchandise, meals or drinks. The add-ons view shows what each booking has and how much has been handed over, so you can mark items as collected at the door, the bar or the merch table.
Door staff and volunteers don’t need their own account. Give them a guest access QR code to scan in the app on their own phone. Guest access can be limited to a room, an artist or particular shows. It expires when you choose, each code can only be claimed once, and you can switch it off at any time. There’s no limit on guest users.
Use as many phones as you need for a busy door, a second entrance or the merch table. Every phone works on the same show at the same time, and check-ins sync between them, so a ticket scanned on one phone shows as used on the others once they sync.
Comedy happens in basements, back rooms and festival tents, so scanning and check-ins keep working when reception drops out. Check-ins are saved on the phone and sync when the connection comes back.*
* Door sales need a connection. Scanning, searching and checking people in work offline.
Sell tickets on the night from the app. Pick the tickets, add the punter’s details if you want them, and the tickets can be checked in as soon as the sale is made. Take the payment outside the app, with your own EFTPOS terminal or cash. Door sales appear in the session’s sales reconciliation alongside online sales, discounts, refunds and comp tickets. Card payments in the app are on our roadmap. Currently our promoters use their own Square device to collect payments (or cash - remember that stuff!). The Funny Little Shows app still allocates the ticket, so you don't oversell.
Keep an eye on a show before the night. Sales charts show tickets sold over time and by ticket type, so you can see whether a show needs another push on socials or is heading for a sell-out. Check-in counts update in real time, so on the night you know how full the room is before the first act goes on.
The app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play, and it’s included with Funny Little Shows ticketing at no extra cost. Promoters and staff sign in with their Funny Little Shows account, and guest staff sign in with a QR code you create for them in the app.
If you reschedule a session, existing tickets keep their QR codes and still scan on the new date.
No. The iOS and Android apps are included with Funny Little Shows ticketing — see pricing.
Yes. The app works offline, so you can keep scanning tickets in basements, pubs and festival venues with poor reception. When you’re back online, all those check-ins are sent to the server. Note: Door sales does require the user to be online, because it deducts tickets from the remaining pool in realtime so you don’t oversell.
Yes. Give each person a guest access QR code to scan in the app on their own phone. Access can be limited to a room, an artist or particular shows, expires when you choose, and can be switched off at any time. There’s no limit on the number of guest users.
Yes. Any number of phones can scan the same show at the same time, whether staff are signed in with their own account or using guest access. Check-ins sync between the phones, so a ticket scanned on one shows as used on the others once they sync.
Search for the booking by name, phone number, email address or booking reference, and check them in manually. Tickets can be scanned from a phone screen or a printout, so a printed ticket works too.
No. Scan any ticket on the booking and the app offers to check in the rest of the party, so a group of four arriving together is checked in with one scan. You can also tell the app to remember that choice, so it checks in the whole party automatically.
Yes. When you reschedule a session, existing tickets keep the same QR code, so they still scan on the new date.
Not yet. Door sales are recorded in the app and appear in your sales reconciliation, but you take the payment yourself with your own EFTPOS terminal or cash. Card payments in the app are on our roadmap. Currently our promoters use their own Square device for payments (or cash), and use the Funny Little Shows app to allocate the tickets so they don’t oversell. Sales reconciliation reports in Funny Little Shows cover all of this.
