For venues

Run your own ticketed nights, or make life easier when promoters bring theirs.

Venues come to live entertainment in different ways. Some run a weekly comedy, music or trivia night themselves. Some are a room that promoters and festivals hire. Some have their own box office and ticketing already. Funny Little Shows works for all three.

Pubs, clubs and venues running their own comedy

If you’re the venue and the promoter, Funny Little Shows can be your website, your ticketing and your door. It handles a single room, several rooms, or more than one venue.

  • A website for your venue. Gig listings that update themselves, plus your own pages for menus, galleries and functions.
  • Sell meals with tickets. Add-ons let punters order dinner or a cheese board when they buy, so the kitchen knows what’s coming before doors open.
  • Set it up once per room. Default capacity, ticket prices and comps per room are filled in automatically for every new show.
  • Regular nights without the busywork. Re-use artists and pricing templates, and past shows come off your website on their own.
  • Waitlists for sold-out nights. Tell the waitlist when tickets come back.
  • Bring them back. Punters who opt in join your mailing list, and you can email them the next line-up from the same system.

Not just comedy

Funny Little Shows was built for comedy, but nothing stops a venue using it for any regular ticketed gig: live music, trivia nights, quiz fundraisers, dinner shows, workshops. If you put on ticketed nights and want a great-looking website that keeps your listings up to date by itself, you’re well placed to use it.

  • One program for everything. Comedy on Friday, a band on Saturday and trivia on Tuesday, all listed on your website and sold through the same checkout.
  • A website that does the work. New gigs appear when you publish them and drop off once they’re over, so the site is never out of date.
  • Food and extras with the ticket. Sell a meal or a drinks package alongside entry.

The admin screens talk about artists and shows, because that’s where we started. A band or a trivia host fits the same way.

Casual staff on the door

Door staff change from night to night. Instead of setting up accounts, give each person a short-term guest access QR code. They scan it in the Funny Little Shows app on their own phone and can start checking people in.

  • Time-limited. Access expires on the date you set, so nothing is left open after the night.
  • Limited to what they need. Restrict access to one room, one artist or particular shows.
  • Single use. Each code can be claimed once, so it can’t be passed around.
  • Revocable. Switch off someone’s access at any time.
  • No limit on numbers. Guest access is included, however many volunteers or casuals you have.

Working with promoters

Plenty of venues run some nights themselves and host promoters on others. Whether the promoter has their own Funny Little Shows account or you run the ticketing for them, everyone sees the same sales, and you don’t have to chase anyone:

  • The door app. Your staff can monitor sales, scan tickets, look punters up by name, check them in and out, and record door sales.
  • Share access with the promoter. Give a visiting promoter or act a guest code limited to their own shows, so they can watch sales and help on the door without seeing the rest of your program.
  • Overnight sales emails. A short email each morning with sales for your room only.
  • Venue comps. Your allocation of comp tickets is set aside for each session.

Venues with their own box office

If you sell tickets through your own system, promoters can link their shows to your ticketing. The show still appears in their program and on their website, and punters click through to buy from you.

Comps are usually where this gets messy. The venue portal gives your box office a list of comp tickets the promoter needs issued, with email alerts and a secure login. You can action each request, or release unused comps back to sale.

What it doesn’t do (yet)

  • Allocated seating with seat maps. It’s on our roadmap; general admission works today.
  • Card payments in the door app. Door sales are recorded in the app, and you take the payment through your own EFTPOS or cash.

Pricing

The same published pricing applies to venues: 2.5% of ticket sales (including card fees), $1 per ticket paid by the punter, and $35 a month for a hosted website. The door app and venue portal cost nothing extra.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Promoters can link their shows to your ticketing, and the venue portal handles their comp ticket requests. If you want a website for your venue, it can link to your existing ticketing too.

Yes. Add-ons such as meals can be sold at checkout alongside tickets, so you know the orders before the night.

No. Give each casual or volunteer a short-term guest access QR code. They scan it in the app, and their access is limited to the rooms or shows you choose and expires when you say. Each code works once, you can revoke it at any time, and there’s no limit on how many you create.

Not yet. The app records door sales against the show, and you take the payment through your own EFTPOS or cash.

Yes. Funny Little Shows was built for comedy, but any regular ticketed gig works the same way: list it on your website, sell tickets, and scan people in at the door. The admin screens use comedy terms such as artists and shows, and there’s no allocated seating yet, so it suits general admission nights best.
